Dawoud Bey: Photography lecture at the National Gallery

Renowned photographer Dawoud Bey delivers the Arnold Newman lecture at the National Gallery.
The lecture is held in conjunction with the Gallery’s exhibition Dawoud Bey: The Birmingham Project a deeply felt and conceptually rich monument to the victims of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 15, 1963.

Dawoud Bey is an African–American photographer and educator known for large-scale portraits of sometimes marginalized subjects. Recipient of a MacArthur Foundation Grant in 2017, he is a professor and Distinguished Artist at Columbia College Chicago.
The exhibition runs through March 17, 2019.
